Presentation of prizes will be held on Saturday 31st May at 5.00pm
at the forge on the village green by Mr John S McCuin Prime Warden of the
Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths
Any item entered in the following classes must include hot forged techniques and must be forged predominately from iron and steel.
Class WIo1 An item of traditional forging techniques, to fit in a 300mm x 300mm x 300mm area.
Class WIo2 A single item of open techniques to fit in a 2m x 1m x 1m area.
NB: these dimensions would accept a screen of 4 panels each measuring 2m x 1m ( using the sides of the box),
or a gate 2m x 1.41m(using the diagonal of the box). Work must include hot forging.
Class WIo3 Scrapheap challenge- any item, any size, any technique. Hot forging is encouraged.
Class WIo4 Live Blacksmithing "something for the farm"
produce any item inspired by the farm. Materials optional to be provided by the competitor. Time allowed 90mins. To be held daily and judged on the Saturday of the show. The winner will also receive the Ron Bennett
memorial trophy offered by the British Artists Blacksmiths Association( BABA) The Royal Bath and West of England
Society is a member and active supporter of BABA.
Class WIo5 Live Blacksmithing, Produce something saleable made in 20 mins.
Materials optional to be provided by the competitor. To be held daily and judged on the Saturday of the show.
Class WIo6 Live pairs Blacksmithing, One pair of Blacksmiths or Farriers tongs.
Time allowed 30 minutes. Material optional, to be supplied by the competitor. To be held and judged on the
Saturday of the show.
