Entry Fees: £5 per item up to three items, for additional items entry is free

College entry fees: £50 per college. This covers all student's entries to all classes

2009 schedule


Class one: Traditional forging

smaller valued items up to a selling value of£350 ex vat
Items must have been made by the competitor using traditional forging methods




Class Two: Traditional forging

Higher valued items over a selling price of £350 ex vat
items must have been made by the competitor using traditional forging methods



Class Three: Contemporary metalwork

Any article produced by the competitor, of a contemporary, artistic or sculptural design
Items in this class mat use any methods preferred by the maker





Class Four: Live forging competition

2 hours to make a boot scraper
competitors to supply their own materials and tools. Anvil forge and fuel supplied.



Class Five: "Crash and dash" live forging competition

30 minutes to make a saleable item
Competitors to supply their own materials and tools. Anvil forge and fuel supplied


Class Six: Inter-college competition

Individual pieces of work made by students of the competing college
No restrictions on the number of entries for each student.
Students may also enter live forging competitions classes 4 & 5 or demonstrate their skills.

Competitors for live forging classes must wear Personal protective equipment.
Glasses/goggles, steel toecap boots and apron/ flame retardent overalls
